Danish born artist Anne Vibeke Mou completed her MA of Arts at Royal College of Art, London in 2005. She received a Visiting Arts/Arts Council England international Fellowship award at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, Prague in 2005 and became artist in residence at University of Sunderland and National Glass Centre in 2006/2007. In the autumn of 2007 she was artist in residence at Upernavik Museum in Greenland. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at National Glass Centre in 2007, The Void Ratio at St Michael’s Church, Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2008, and Draw a Line, Follow it … at Allenheads Contemporary Art in 2008. Her has been included in the Plan Chest Room at Globe Gallery.
The making of her drawings involves the application of many tiny marks on the surface of the paper following a rigidly defined horizontal grid. The image evolves from this process as densities of the marks vary over lengthy periods of time. Intense repetition of tiny individual marks reveals the paradoxical collision of the apocalyptic with the sublime.
